Our Philosophy
Our goal in training is not to merely teach dogs commands but to help owners and their dogs develop a great bond with each other. Through obedience training dogs learn to work with their owners and develop a respect for them as leaders. As a leader for your dog you must allow your dog the freedom to express their personality and enjoy life, but you must also provide rules and discipline.
Our training method is based on an integration of training with fun and play. Exercise is a key component in our training. We are not going to bore your dog by standing in one spot and repeating commands at them over and over. The more fun your dog has while training, the more motivated they will be and the quicker they will learn. We use what is known as a “balanced” approach where positive reinforcement is used when a dog does something right and negative reinforcement (or correction) is used when a dog shows inappropriate behavior.
Along with basic obedience, we teach owners to read their dog’s body language. A dog’s training program should be unique to them. If you can learn to read your dog’s reactions to different training techniques, you can determine what motivates them to learn and develop a training program that meets their needs. Every dog learns in their own way and thrives when their needs are realized.
"...training is an art - it is the process of drawing out, evoking from your pup behavior that will allow her to live peacefully with you."
