Originally from southern Ontario, I recently moved up to the great white north. My life was changed 13 years ago when the cutest little 9 month old Chow X puppy named Meiling stole my heart while I was volunteering at the Humane Society. Two weeks later I drove out of that parking lot with her in my backseat. At that point, I was a typical inexperienced dog owner who had no idea what she was in for. Meiling was removed from her previous owner and brought with her baggage that I was not ready for. We had difficulty finding training that would help deal with our specific situation. Trainers wanted to put us into their mold that just didn't fit us. I became determined to figure out how to connect with my dog and give her a better life. From that point on I slowly found myself slipping deeper into the dog world until one day I took the plunge and put my master's degree on hold to follow my dream of becoming a dog trainer.
I graduated from a government accredited professional trainers program in British Columbia where I had the chance to learn and train with an exceptional group of talented dog trainers (www.wonderdogs.bc.ca). The program was a three month long intensive program with 3 hours of practical work every morning and afternoons filled with theory. Nights and weekends provided many field trips and learning experiences. Along with my formal training, I have extensive knowledge of canine behavior and hands on experience from years of working in kennels and volunteering at the Humane Society. I have worked with dogs of all breeds, ages and sizes. Each dog has been a new learning experience that has furthered my love of training.

“On a daily basis I hear stories and see evidence of people who just don’t enjoy their dogs due to a lack of knowledge and communication. While volunteering at the Humane Society, I saw dogs given up for basic problems that could so easily be fixed. My goal as a trainer is to help people learn how to enjoy their dogs. I want to provide useful obedience for the everyday owner through clear instruction. A dog should be a great addition to your life, not a nuisance.”
